Bob focus includes identifying promising investments in nanotechnology and materials science, and working with portfolio companies on their engineering, manufacturing, and commercialisation strategies. His background includes consulting at East Hill, academic appointments at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Rochester Institute of Technology. Industry positions include VP of Business Development for Kionix, VP of Technology and General Manager of Advanced Microtechnology for Xerox, and advisor to over 100 companies in the area of micro- and nanotechnology.
In 1989 Bob founded and became General Manager for AMTX, which manufactured and commercialised micro- and nanosystems. AMTX grew in four years to over 200 employees and was acquired. Bob also co-founded Ardesta, a micro/nano/biosystems venture fund and incubator with $100 million in investments.
He holds a BS in Ceramic Science from the Pennsylvania State University and a PhD in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Bob is currently a Fellow of both these institutions, and has received numerous honors.
